IABC Fellow Kellie Garrett discusses how to take your career to the next level by navigating politics like an ethical pro. She reviews the ‘soft’ skills – such as political savvy and networks – that aren’t taught in leadership courses and that communicators aren’t privy to unless they have an executive mentor.

Garrett is a speaker, executive coach and leadership/strategy consultant. Her corporate executive experience spans business strategy, enterprise risk management, communication, marketing and organizational culture. She also provides Board training on these topics.Garrett_SPARK_Photo

Garrett holds a Master of Arts in Leadership & Training from Royal Roads University (2005) and completed Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program in 2006. Awards include Humanitarian of the Year (Saskatchewan) from the Canadian Red Cross (2014), Canada’s Top 25 Women of Influence (2012), Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award for fundraising for Dress for Success Regina (2012), Master Communicator (2010) from IABC Canada, and Canada’s 100 Powerful Women (2007).

Garrett Chairs the Board of Women Entrepreneurs Saskatchewan and the provincial chapter of the International Coach Federation (Saskatchewan). She also is a director on the board of the Autism Resource Center.

Garrett is passionate about helping others reach their potential by enhancing the professional and personal leadership of individuals and teams. She believes strongly in giving back to community. Her favorite causes are Dress for Success and autism. (One of her two grown sons has autism.)

She is an avid flower gardener, writer and voracious reader. A lifelong hedonist, she is now a wellness seeker who still quaffs wine.
