Thursday’s #connect2excellence Joint Regional Silver Quill Awards Luncheon, during the #connect2comms conference, had 42 reasons to celebrate excellence in professional communication. That was the number of awards presented to communicators across both the Southern Region and Pacific Plains Region. (See the slide show and event photos.)

The Best of Show Award went to Alabama Power for its Powergrams magazine’s March-April, May-June and July-August 2019 editions.

Alabama Power also took Best of Division in the communication skills category. The magazine won Best of Show and Best of Division in 2017.

Austin Energy won Best of Division for communication management for its “How Will You Say Goodbye? Featuring StEVie, the EV-Loving T-Rex.” As a community-owned utility, Austin Energy is committed to the environment and quality of life. With aggressive goals to lower carbon emissions, the community-owned utility created a campaign to spread the word that the electric vehicle EVolution is here and now is the time to say goodbye to driving combustion-engine vehicles.

The campaign introduced StEVie, the EV-Loving T-Rex. With a specially fitted Electric > Gas shirt, StEVie stars in videos, on social media, in ads, at local events and more.
