Mary Hardin Francis | #connect2comms Conference Director
Mary Hardin Francis (IABC Houston) is President of Hardin-Francis Enterprises, LLC, an integrated, creative, strategic marketing communication agency that has been the recipient of multiple Bronze and Silver Quill Awards. Working with a large number of clients in various industries for more than 25 years, the firm specializes in branding, web design and development, internet marketing, advertising and project management. Mary was a partner at Eventions, an event-planning company, and Director of Media Relations for the Houston Public Library System prior to founding Hardin-Francis. She also taught in the Visual Communications Department at Lone Star College and provides marketing communications services to charitable organizations in Houston. Mary has been involved with the Southern Region since she created the website for Align ’09, the region conference held in Houston. Since then, she’s supported the region as Conference Director and Silver Quill Awards Director multiple times and recently served as Southern Region Chair. She is an IABC Houston past president and remains active in the local chapter. A native Houstonian (one of the few left still living there), Mary is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Journalism degree and Marketing specialization. As the #connect2comms Conference Director, she is chairing the committee that is planning and executing the first joint regional conference effort with the IABC Pacific Plains Region. She will be working closely with the Vice Chair in this capacity.
Thomas Baen | Chapter Services Director (CSD) for Arkansas, Oklahoma + Texas
Thomas Baen (IABC Houston) currently Customer Marketing Analytics Manager at Stage Stores in Houston, has more than 15 years of experience in all facets of marketing communication, including strategy, execution measurement and reporting. His “Customer–First” belief ensures delivery of the right message, at the right time, in the right medium, to the right person and allows him to move seamlessly across industries. He believes in giving back to the marketing communications industry through his participation in IABC. After serving in a number of board positions, including President, for IABC Houston, he continues to judge IABC Quill Awards programs, specializing in complete campaigns and measurement. As the IABC Southern Region CSD for Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, he’s excited use his IABC knowledge and experience in support of chapter leaders. He will work closely with the VP for Chapter Services in this capacity.
Kevin Floyd | Chapter Services Director (CSD) for Georgia, North & South Carolina + Tennessee
Kevin N. Floyd (IABC South Carolina) is the Director of Business Development at the Collins and Lacy Law Firm in Columbia, SC. Over the past 11 years, he has worked at three law firms and two PR/advertising agencies focusing on communications-related projects across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Earlier in his career, Kevin was an Emmy Award winning television news executive producer. Following his time at three Carolina TV stations, he taught first grade in Charlotte via the Teach for America National Service Corp. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Teach for America South Carolina. His career highlights include making a room full of six-year-olds roll on the floor in laughter, embarrassing exercise legend Richard Simmons on live TV with a box of Krispy Kreme donuts, and being a friend/mentor to Craig Melvin 15 years before he became Today Show host. This year, Keven looks forward to using his experiences with the Southern Region and the South Carolina Chapter of IABC as the CSD for Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. He will work closely with the VP for Chapter Services in this capacity.
Sara Odle | Chapter Services Director (CSD) for Barbados, Caribbean + Trinidad & Tobago
Sara Odle (IABC Barbados) is Public Relations Account Manager with Virgo Communication, Inc. and is Principal Lecturer of the Diploma for Administrative Office Management and Public Relations at the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity. A Masters in Business Administration (MBA) graduate, Sara has excellent, broad-based experience in marketing advertising, public relations and communications within the competitive areas of the Advertising, Telecommunications and Financial Services industries both locally and regionally. For more than 17 years, she has been a tutor of Public Relations and Communications theory and practice at the tertiary level. Sara has been a member of the IABC Barbados Board and is looking forward to using her experience and knowledge to support chapter leaders as the CSD for IABC Southern Region’s Caribbean chapters. She will work closely with the VP for Chapter Services in this capacity.
Maire Simington | Chapter Services Director (CSD) for Arizona, Colorado + Kansas
Maire Simington, MBA, PhD (IABC Phoenix) is a faculty member in residence at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in health policy and strategic planning. In addition to teaching, she is the Principal of Vermilion Cliffs Consulting and has more than 20 years of experience leading healthcare marketing and communication teams. She received her MBA from the University of Phoenix and her PhD from Arizona State University. Maire has served on the board of several nonprofit organizations and is an active IABC member and volunteer. She was chair of the IABC Foundation from 1994–1996. She has also served as VP for Leadership Development on the IABC Southern Region Board (2014–2016) and the IABC Phoenix Board (2016–2017). This year, as the CSD for Arizona, Colorado and Kansas, Maire will support chapter leaders in that area and will work closely with the VP for Chapter Services in this capacity.

Genma Holmes | Members-at-Large Director
Genma Stringer Holmes (IABC Nashville) is a highly-recognized and award-winning Serial Entrepreneur, Media Influencer, and Editor-in-Chief. She is the owner of Holmes Pest Control, Executive Producer of Living Your Best Life Radio, and the Editor-in-Chief of GSH Media. Her heart for non-profits and organizations, combined with her communications skills, have won her numerous awards from the International Association of Business Communicators, for projects as diverse as editorial work on several print publications, to digital communication branding and management. Among the many social media campaigns Genma has created and managed, you’ll find prestigious organizations such as The Ohio State University; MD Anderson Cancer Center; University of Houston; Intercultural Cancer Council; University of Tennessee at Memphis; Meharry Medical College; The Links, Incorporated; and the National Day of the American Cowboy, to name a few. This year, she will be working closely with the VP for Region Development to support members-at-large within the IABC Southern Region.
