As a spokesman for the TSA, Nico handled more than 15,000 media queries, appeared on every national media news program in the United States and has been at the center of several national security stories including the shooting of a TSA officer at Los Angeles International Airport and the 2006 liquid bomb plot. He handled press relations for the Western US. Nico is a Commander in the US Navy Reserves. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 where he was a spokesman for NATO and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). His awards include a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, a Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal, three Navy Achievement Medals and several other unit and campaign awards. Nico will represent the United States in 2018 when he presents on media relations at the annual Heli-Show and Homeland Security Conference in Dubai, UAE.
